Team Bunyip
So are we over Good Friday?
Well another Good Friday is over and done with and the dust has started to settle. It’s now time to look over the day and the role Team Bunyip had to play to ensure that the money movement occurred in a timely and most importantly safe manner.
I am happy to report that Team Bunyip welcomed 6 new members who joined some veterans who have made Good Friday a part of their lives and some are even bringing their partners into the team (I think there are a few inter team romances on the boil too).
Members of Team Bunyip conducted a roving collection on the outer concourse of Etihad Stadium and were outside the gates when the NRL spectators were leaving the game (by accident of course). For the day not only did the Team do its normal duties but we raised $1,109.50, which was over double what we raised last year. Well done to you all. Hope to see you all back next year so we can do it all again.
It is also nice to see that some old Team Bunyip members have moved on to other roles and are doing well. It is equally pleasing to see the Uncle Bobs display marquee doing well this year and the creation of the Bob Bunyip Bunnies! Anything, I say, to increase the exposure of the Club and the work that we all do!
The operations of Team Bunyip did not go as smoothly as usual due to the NRL game being played at the same venue so we had to change our money movement and found performing our role somewhat challenging. Due to the increase in activities at the Stadium it meant that our drop offs were occurring at the same time that spectators were arriving (cars and people don’t really mix all that well). Later in the day tempers were at fever pitch but I am extremely proud to say that through it all, the young members of Team Bunyip remained calm and willing to adapt to the situation. We just did our job
To all members of Team Bunyip, WELL DONE once again! It is my honour to guide you through the day. At all times you acted professionally and represented the Club in a good light (even when we went and got supplies from 7-Eleven). If any younger members want to be a part of Team Bunyip, new members are always welcome. If you want to know more about what the team does, you can contact me by e-mail at teambunyip@yahoo.com.au. I will answer any questions you have.
On a personal level, to the dedicated team who help me load the truck with the UBC counting room equipment and the time of 7am, I say thanks from myself. And to those who are there at midnight with me a special thanks. Without your support it would be an even longer day. Maybe next year we won’t forget anything.
In closing I must say CONGRATULATIONS to all Uncle Bobs no matter where you are and no matter what your age. We are all part of a team who work together for one common goal, to help the sick kids of Victoria. Well done and hope to see all members of Team Bunyip next year and maybe a few more new members.
