Luncheon at the Royal Children’s Hospital
A luncheon on Saturday 24th October 2009 was organised by Dinah Reddihough and Bob Willey. The luncheon was an opportunity for the Club to visit the Hospital, see the new building under construction, also a presentation of what the new hospital will look like. I can tell you it was very impressive and informative. It was also an opportunity for Members of the State Committee to meet with
- Associate Professor Dinah Reddihough, Director, Developmental Medicine
- Associate Professor Andrew Kornberg, Director of Neurology
- Mrs. Michèle Spreckley - Manager and Physiotherapist, Uncle Bobs Child Development Centre
- Julie Webber, Manager, Public Affairs
recommencing communications with the Hospital. Since we have moved to Tullamarine we are not across the road any more, and as such are not seeing each other as much as we used to.
Since this meeting we have been informed of the winners of the UBC Travelling Scholarships for 2007 and 2008.
The 2007 UBC Travelling Scholarship was shared by two people –
- Raffaella Calafiore who works in Paediatric rehabilitation as a Social Worker, will attend a Family Therapy course at a European Summer School
- Anthea Greenway will spend a year with the paediatric haematology department at Duke University Medical Centre in the US
The 2008 UBC Travelling Scholarship was won by –

Whilst there she will perform structured investigations and analysis of the role of the Physiotherapist in Neuromuscular disorders in internationally renowned clinics in the UK and USA
The directors of the Uncle Bobs Club will be in touch with these previous winners in the near future and see if they are available to guest speak at an upcoming General meeting.
