Dear Ian and all of the Committee at the Uncle Bobs Club,
Thank you so much for inviting me to lunch on Saturday. It was a most enjoyable occasion.
It was wonderful to see your excellent facility, and such a surprise to see all the rooms and storage area, after walking in from the street. It was lovely to meet with every one of you again and to see the amazing film about the founding of the Club and the early work at Frankston. The lunch was delicious too!! And thank you again for that bottle of wine, which we will enjoy.
As you know, I greatly appreciate all that you do. Your work means such a lot to our children, their families and the staff particularly at the Uncle Bobs Child Development Centre. You are truly making a difference.
Again many thanks for this function – I shall often think about it.
With kind regards.
Yours sincerely,

Good Friday Appeal Letter of Thanks
Hi all,
What an absolutely sensational result….. a HUGE THANK YOU to each and every one of you for the important part you played to make this the best Good Friday Appeal yet. We all faced a few extra challenges this year, so it is particularly rewarding to know we have achieved such a successful day.
Hats off to the MSL/Etihad team for their miraculous effort in having the Victory Room ‘restored’ in time for the telethon – a (much appreciated) huge effort!
The feedback I have had from (totally unbiased) friends and neighbours is that the telethon was great – not only did they have it on all day and night but they actually found it compelling to watch ….. thank you to all involved at Channel 7.
The radio coverage was again fabulous – a big thanks to the 3AW and Magic presenters and crew.
To the teams at the RCH- the staff, the Public Affairs Dept, the Auxiliaries and of course the families - to the Uncle Bobs and the Pied Pipers, to all at the Herald Sun- editorial and HWT volunteers, to Delaware staff , our NAB volunteers, Telstra and Vic Police and of course to the amazing hard working GFA team……..
CONGRATULATIONS and thank you for all your tireless work, attention to detail and commitment to making 2010 a record setting year.
Here’s to our 80th anniversary in 2011.
Warm regards,
Christine

UBC Travelling Scholar 2009
This is an e-mail that was received from the 2009 UBC Travelling Scholar.
Dear Ian,
It was a pleasure to meet you and Matthew last week at the Royal Children's Hospital Annual General Meeting.
Thank you for the support Uncle Bobs Club provide to the RCH and in particular for the Travelling Scholarship.
I am very grateful for the opportunity the scholarship will provide and I look forward to being able to bring new skills back to the RCH. The workshop I will attend in July 2010 in South Carolina is on a new technique aimed at preventing strokes in children with sickle cell anaemia. After this I will spend a period of time at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh observing and learning how they look at the liver with ultrasound before and after liver transplants in children.
July 2010 seems a long way away at the moment but I am sure it will come around very quickly. At the moment I am negotiating with a hotel adjacent to the hospital for a very competitive room rate so I can make the most of my visit and stay as long as practical.
As I indicated last week I would be very pleased to come and speak at your Club meetings. As my travel is actually not until next financial year I would be happy to speak beforehand if that is more suitable. And then of course I can update you on my return if you are interested. Once again, thank you for your support and I will ensure that I return with valuable new techniques and skills to pass on to my colleagues and most importantly to help the sick and disabled children of Victoria.
Kind Regards,
Tania Griffiths

A MESSAGE FROM UNCLE BOBS CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTRE
Please pass on our thanks to the Uncle Bobs Club members who attended the Christmas party here last week and to Father Christmas for his act. It is always good having them all here.
I also wanted to let you know that the Parent-Child Mother Goose Program that the Club has been supporting over the last number of years has finally had its evaluation completed. We did this evaluation in collaboration with Australian Catholic University over three years. Australian Catholic University is about to submit the paper for publication in a peer reviewed journal. It has also been accepted for presentation at the National Early Intervention Childhood conference in Canberra in May next year where Uncle Bobs CDC will be present.
Please pass on our thanks for their wonderful support. We really appreciated being able to offer this program and now that we have an evaluation completed it should help in gaining funding from other sources. The Club has enabled this all to happen, so thank you again!
