Charles McLean
Charles McLean State Committee Member
I joined the Uncle Bobs Club in 2002, and became a State Committee member in 2008.
I really enjoy the Club’s comradeship, the contact with all the different areas, and the great feeling you get from helping the sick children of Victoria. It is a real buzz to be part of the Club.
I have a son, daughter and granddaughter who are members of the Club, and you can say it is a family affair. I have 5 children ages 45, 43, 36, 34 and 32.
WORK HISTORY
I worked at the State Savings Bank of Victoria for 7 years, then purchased a Milk Bar, which I had for 4 years, also doing odd jobs for 2 years. Then I joined the Ambulance Service, serving for 25 years, leaving because of a serious back injury. I then had a part time job driving disabled adults to a day care centre and back home. I retired 6 years ago.
I have been volunteering for over 45 years. Some of my volunteering tasks have been -
21 years on school councils, 13 years as President of Lalor North Secondary College, I5 years as a Scout Leader, 26 years as a Swimming Victoria official, 3 years with the Community Visitor program run by the Justice Department, making sure all government regulations are in place.
I really enjoy helping others.
